Great build quality
Ordering process went smooth and leadtimes were well communicated.
The simulator came well packaged, all extrusions were well finished, no residue from sawing process left in the boxes as mentioned in some other reviews. Together with the TR160S V2, I bought the Asetek front mount, Universal TR-One Pedal Mounting System including Mounting Profile and Heel Rest, a set of caster wheels and Large Cockpit-Mounted Single Monitor Stand.
The build itself takes some time but it is not overly complex, although the instruction manual could do with clearer drawings especially for the seat slider assembly.
The rig itself is as sturdy as a tank. I'm using it with Asetek Forte base and Invicta pedals. For the seat I went with a Lusomotors RCC MK1 that I mounted on the Trak Racer seat sliders. This did require some modification as the seat is actually wider than the distance between the sliders. I ended up mounting 2 pieces of flat metal bar across the sliders, on which I then bolted the seat. In all this makes for a very rigid setup with no flex in pedal mount, wheelbase mount or seat.
Next to rigidity, the rig also offers a lot of adjustability. As my daughter was also keen to use the rig, I had to find a pedal and wheelbase position that suits both of us (I'm 1m95, she's 1m75) while, ideally, only repositioning the seat using the sliders. It took some trial and error but I'm happy to report we managed to find a good setup for us both, requiring only sliding the seat back and forth…
